The client
Denim City is the sustainable denim factory and knowledge institute in the heart of Amsterdam. The company is instrumental in the Dutch denim industry. The brand’s flagship store at De Hallen Amsterdam serves as the factory and community hub where they host events, run design workshops and produce and sell denim.
The challenge
Denim City had built a memorable and distinct physical brand but had yet to translate it into a digital presence. This was not only important from a business growth perspective but was also vital for serving and supporting their community throughout the Netherlands.
The company has a strong educational focus, running training workshops and labs where developments and new ideas in sustainability are trialled and tested. Denim City needed an online space to host a shop and keep their community up to date with the latest events and workshops.
Denim City wanted to produce a responsive website that would align with their brand identity and enable the institute to continue extending their reach in a digital space.
Digital Space Transformation
To strengthen Denim City’s digital presence and brand identity, we created a mobile-first responsive website that translated the design vision and brand guidelines created for Denim City into a safe and responsive website that the team could self-manage.
Mobile First
The majority of Denim City’s online traffic is via mobile phone. For our team, that meant not only developing a responsive website but adopting a mobile-first design and development approach to ensure that Denim City’s style is uniform over all browsers and screen sizes.
